Employment Advertising: The Job Network

BEACHWOOD, OH (PRWEB) August 18, 2005 -– Two more newspapers have joined the growing number of U.S. newspapers that are part of The Job Network, a network of more than 600 newspaper job sites, powered by Redmatch, an HR recruitment software company based in Beachwood, Ohio. Both The Gazette of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the South Bend Tribune of Indiana report increased traffic and advertiser approval since joining The Job Network.

All Job Network members are linked together in an effort to regain dominance in the employment advertising market and compete better with pure online sites such as Monster.com and Hotjobs.com.

Using The Job Network and Redmatch system, newspapers can provide new products and services to both their clients and job seekers. Redmatch’s unique technology creates an electronic marketplace bringing together millions of job candidates and employers quickly and efficiently.

Unlike other job sites that merely produce listings of jobs and resumes, the Redmatch system is based on a patented, real-time Job Matching technology that enables advertisers to zero in on the most qualified candidates and candidates to focus on jobs for which they are most qualified. Redmatch provides newspapers with a variety of new classified products, generating new streams of sustainable revenues, offsetting the decline in print ad revenues and returning their historical competitive advantage. The national deployment of The Job Network across 600 locations gives local newspapers the ability to offer their clients valuable local, regional and national exposure for their ads at no extra cost.

“We are excited about the opportunity to be part of The Job Network and integrate the Redmatch technology on our sites,” says Mary Willie, Advertising and Marketing Manager, Interactive Services at Gazette Communication, which owns The Gazette, a regional newspaper in eastern Iowa whose online properties include http://www.iowa.com and http://www.corridorcareers.com. “In the short time that we have had our sites affiliated with The Job Network, we have seen increases in traffic, advertising revenues and interest from both candidates and advertisers. The unique job matching technology that we offer our advertisers through The Job Network lets us provide a better service to candidates and advertisers, a service much better than what other job sites in our area offer.”

The underlying advantage to The Job Network is how Redmatch’s Job Matching technology automatically matches candidate profiles, preferences and job requirements and presents the results to both the candidate and the advertiser. Matching candidates, both passive and active, are presented to employers via e-mail or an online account and are ranked by how well they fit the job requirements.

South Bend Tribune, a leading newspaper from South Bend, Indiana, has also seen a significant improvement in traffic and ad posting. South Bend Tribune launched the Redmatch-powered site with an aggressive campaign designed to attract candidates, offering prizes such as computers and MP3 players to registrants. Several thousand candidates registered within only a few weeks, making the paper’s candidate database larger than it has ever been and increasing the number of qualified job applicants for each job ad.

“We are very happy with how quickly our job site (http://www.sbtjobmatch.com) is growing and how we have increased the value to our clients. We now have a database of more than 8,500 resumes that is still growing,” says Mary Zenor, Classified Advertising Manager at the South Bend Tribune. “Job matching is the future of job sites, and South Bend is already using it to be at the forefront of the job market.”

In addition to using the same technology, newspapers that are members of The Job Network can create a joint pool of candidate records and job ads. This means that when an ad is posted on one member’s site, it can automatically be posted on all member sites, giving it maximum exposure, increasing value for everyone’s advertisers – and bottom lines.

“Newspapers like The Gazette and the Tribune end up in a win-win situation when they join The Job Network,” says Marc Wilson, President of The Job Network and CEO of TownNews.com. “By joining forces through The Job Network, newspapers are increasing their revenues and competitiveness as well as becoming better positioned to fight back the purely online job boards on a regional and a national level.”
